Vanilla Bean Paste Recipe

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: Approx. 1 cup

Description

A rich and aromatic homemade vanilla bean paste that’s easy to make and more flavorful than store-bought versions. Perfect for baking, desserts, or even savory dishes!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 45 vanilla beans
  • 1 cup sugar (granulated or coconut sugar)
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons corn syrup or glycerin
  • 1 tablespoon rum or vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Split vanilla beans lengthwise and scrape out the seeds.
  2. Combine beans, seeds, sugar, water, and corn syrup (or glycerin) in a small saucepan. Add rum or extract if using.
  3. Simmer over medium heat for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until mixture thickens.
  4. Blend for a smoother paste and strain if desired.
  5. Cool completely and store in an airtight container.

Notes

Use maple syrup or agave for a vegan version. Store in the refrigerator for extended shelf life. Adjust simmer time to control thickness.
