Description
A quick, comforting, and creamy Italian pasta dish, Pastina is the perfect solution for busy days when you need something satisfying yet easy to make. With just a few simple ingredients, this delightful meal can be made in under 15 minutes. Ideal for kids, adults, and anyone who loves a cozy, flavorful dish.
Ingredients
1 cup Pastina (small pasta)
2 cups Chicken Broth (or vegetable broth)
2 tablespoons Butter
¼ cup Grated Parmesan
1 Egg
Salt and pepper (to taste)
Optional Add-ins:
Fresh herbs (basil, parsley)
1 clove Garlic (minced)
Zest from 1 lemon
Instructions
Boil the Broth: Bring the chicken (or vegetable) broth to a boil in a medium-sized pot over medium heat. You can add a pinch of salt for seasoning.
Cook the Pastina: Add the Pastina to the boiling broth. Stir occasionally and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the pasta is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed.
Add Butter and Parmesan: Lower the heat. Stir in butter and grated Parmesan until they melt and create a creamy consistency.
Add the Egg: In a small bowl, beat the egg. Slowly pour it into the hot pasta while stirring gently, allowing the heat to cook the egg and create a silky texture in the dish.
Season and Serve: Taste the Pastina and season with salt and pepper as needed. Add optional fresh herbs, garlic, or lemon zest for extra flavor.
Notes
Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat with extra broth to maintain a creamy texture.
Substitutions:
Use olive oil or coconut oil instead of butter for a vegan option.
Swap the egg for a plant-based substitute for a fully vegan dish.
Use gluten-free pasta for a gluten-free version.
